Every Flavourtown vintage cake starts its life the second our scratch-made sponges come out of the oven; once they cool, Matilde and her team of talented cake artists start the time-consuming part - decorating. Unlike some simpler cakes, Lambeth-style piping is built up layer by layer using multiple piping nozzles, buttercream colours and techniques.
Luckily, the Flavourtown cake decorators have years of combined experience. They pipe every shell, scroll, swag and buttercream border completely freehand, carefully building depth and texture as they work their way around the cake. There’s no stencil or piping guide - every vintage cake is individually hand-decorated by artists with hands so steady, they’d make a surgeon blush.
Personalised Vintage Cakes with Hand-Piped Messages
Vintage cakes are all about the piping, and that includes the personalised message. Our cake artists hand-pipe names, greetings and cheeky little notes directly onto our vintage cakes in buttercream. Yes. Our specialist cake delivery team hand-delivers vintage cakes across London and all areas inside the M25, ensuring they arrive safely and looking exactly as they should. Our delivery service operates seven days a week.

We have two vintage cake delivery options in London: Our ANYTIME delivery will arrive between 8am and 5pm, or our premium PRE-MIDDAY option will arrive between 8am 12 noon. If you need a more specific timed delivery, or a direct private courier from our NW10 bakery to your event - reach out and talk to us, we'll be happy to look at options with you. Please note that as our cakes are handcrafted and delicate, they must either be delivered, or collected from our bakery.
All of our vintage cakes are baked fresh to order in our London bakery. We require 48 hours’ notice for vintage cake orders — so if you order on Monday, your cake can be ready for London delivery on Wednesday, for example. We do become extremely busy at weekends and during peak periods such as Mother’s Day, so it’s always worth ordering as far in advance as possible. If you need a vintage cake at short notice, we will always try to help, please contact us.
Yes. Names, messages and short greetings can be hand-piped directly onto the cake using buttercream. It’s one of the things that makes vintage cakes so much fun — every cake can be customised to suit the celebration. Absolutely. Most of our vintage cakes can be decorated in a wide range of colour combinations, from soft pastel palettes to bold bright full-on colours.
