OPERATIONS MANAGER

This is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking company that leads the market in innovation and quality - one not to be missed!

We are searching for an Operations Manager who will help keep the operations side of the business running smoothly to develop a long-standing business and operations structure. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with the Senior Leadership Team and be able to make business-critical decisions.

Flavourtown is London's leading cake and cupcake bakery with a hard-earned reputation for world-class cake that tastes even better than it looks. We've been creating Freshly Baked Happiness since 2013, and our business is growing. We've never compromised on our core values of using amazing ingredients to create a best-in-class product, and we've gone from a one-man operation to having over thirty staff across our venues, BUT our attention to detail and deliciousness still drives everything we do.

The Role

Day-to-day management of the operational side of the business, including our customer service office, logistics, nationwide delivery and our two shops.

The role will develop and evolve as the business grows and will, therefore, continually change, so a willingness to adapt and embrace change on an almost daily basis is required. You will also need the ability, leadership skills and emotional intelligence to lead your team through operational changes and developments.

We are looking for an outstanding operations manager with first-class people skills, a razor-sharp eye for planning and strategy, and a proven track record of controlling costs, delivery, and growth, as well as ideas for adding new and exciting revenue streams.

Reports – Directly to and works in partnership with the owners.

Responsibilities

Overseeing operations at our NW London CPU - Our online store hand-delivers across London seven days a week, and all of our products are hand-crafted from scratch by our small team of bakers and cake decorators led by Matilde, our production manager.

As the Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our two stores in London. Your primary focus will be streamlining processes, enhancing customer satisfaction, and driving business performance.

Managing operations across our two storefront operations includes working collaboratively with store managers to drive revenue and standards and implementing best practices across all business aspects, from merchandising to planning launches for new product lines.

In charge of Health and Safety across the business from training to implementation.

You would also be responsible for the day-to-day running of all Flavourtown Bakery operations, including budgets, growth planning, production planning, HR, strategy, and recruitment.

Working in partnership with the owners to drive product revenue and a cohesive, fun Flavourtown-centric message across all social platforms.

Ensuring the smooth running of all operations, including the Office team, Transport, and, as mentioned above, our stores.

About you

A systems-oriented leader capable of implementing and delivering streamlined operational procedures. You are laser-focused on numbers and have in-depth experience setting budgets and targets and focusing teams.

Ideally, you will have extensive experience in an artisanal luxury food business and be capable of directing everything from supply chain to customer experience. Experience with the Shopify platform and integrations is preferred – leveraging this experience to push sales and smash targets.

You will have strong opinions and probably feel stifled in your current role. You want more scope to implement changes and to use your ideas and expertise.

You have a playful, fun-oriented personality and embrace the Flavourtown brand! We are the fun, slightly naughty kid at the back of the class, and we enjoy pushing people's buttons with fun desserts and ideas.

SOCIAL CONTENT PR COORDINATOR

We're looking for a unique person to join us as our Social Content PR Co-ordinator.

I will caveat this blurb by saying that this will be a unique, challenging role. You'll need to arrive on day zero and start juggling plates, thinking about your first moves, and herding cats. Being familiar with our brand is a distinct advantage, if not a prerequisite for this role. HOWEVER, if you understand us and the space we operate in, let's talk.

You'll need to be able to get to our Production Kitchen in Park Royal and our stores in Richmond and Fulham, primarily for gathering content and for a weekly catch-up/planning/brainstorming session.

We, as owners, have been consumed by Flavourtown for ten years, and we've finally learned our lesson—we need to step back and work on the business instead of always working IN it. I literally have dreams about the things I want us to be doing and what I want the business to be, and now we need someone as driven as we are to help get all this nonsense off the page and into the world.

A bit about us

We're a small 'best in class' bakery in London, employing around 40 people. We make cakes, cupcakes, and big NYC Cookies—a super high-quality product with a modern, playful, fun aesthetic. We have two modern, fun retail stores and an online e-commerce operation hand-delivering our deliciousness across London. We genuinely have a bloody amazing product, but not enough people know about us.

So, with that in mind, our biggest areas for growth are social media, content PR, and marketing. We're looking to really grow the number of people who've heard of us and fallen in love with us.

You'll be

- Creating and managing our social content across all social platforms.

- You'll manage the delivery of our overall marketing and social strategy.

- Developing on-brand native content.

- Co-ordinating and managing PR opportunities.

- Developing and implementing our social and marketing calendar.

The right candidate

We don't care if you've got a marketing degree or not!! We're looking for someone who understands that we are a small business and our budget limitations, but being small brings opportunities to be reactive and move quickly on ideas and trends. A positive can-do mentality is essential, and you'll be comfortable jumping from shooting content in one of our kitchens and editing it to doing a PR drop into magazines for our latest seasonal range.

You are passionate about social and on top of all the latest trends, and you have a sharp eye for data to help you manage campaign performance.

You'll need to understand everything from Google ads to other paid forms of marketing.

Whilst some influencer marketing is important, you don't think sending every D-list celeb a box of cupcakes is the answer to gaining traction, and you have innovative ideas that you can't wait for people to hear.

The truth—you will be our marketing department—for now! Rapid traction and growth will see us expand your team, and you'll have a huge opportunity to grow into the Flavourtown Brand Manager role. We need a self-starter who's keen to break out from their current role and make their mark with bold, innovative ideas. As the two founders of the business, you'll work really closely with us and report directly to us.

If you've read this far, you're interested in the job – I won't list any other skills you'll need as you already have a good idea of what we need and the role, right?

The next steps

1 – Obviously, we want to see your CV

2 – We want you to have a look at our socials and brand and do a one-page analysis of what we're not doing that we should be, what you think Flavourtown is about and the first things you'd do if you got the job.

Then send this mini plot along with your CV to brooksy@flavourtownbakery.co.uk

The salary is £30,000 - £35,000, depending on experience, and it includes 29 days of annual leave, a performance-related bonus, a 50% staff discount, and the opportunity for limitless growth.
