How to create the Ultimate Faultline cake

The Faultline cake is latest cake trend and boy are we on board! What's not to like, extra sprinkles, extra frosting and all finished with a dramatic gold edge. We set about creating our totally pimped out version of the Fault line cake for our Flavourtown Fulham bakery and thought you would like a sneaky peak as some of the BTS shots.

We wanted the sponge to be extra AF so we took our classic Rainbow Cake sponge and created this epic tie dye rainbow sponge. It was four layers of madagascan vanilla Rainbow cake, all swirled together before being baked.

After a simple crumb coat in pink Swiss meringue buttercream we added a layer of our famous sprinkle mix to the centre of the cake. It's important to make the area of sprinkles larger than you want for the final cake, as this area will reduce in size when the last layer of frosting is added.

After the last coat of buttercream frosting has been added, we hand painted the edge of the frosting with a gold edible paint. We finished the top with some ice cream style swirls and yet more sprinkles! :)
