How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Cake in London
The London Couple’s Guide to Choosing and Ordering a Wedding Cake Without The Stress
Choosing your wedding cake should be one of the most exciting parts of planning your big day. At Flavourtown Bakery, we help couples across London (and now further afield inside the M25) keep it simple, stylish, and seriously delicious, with a curated collection of wedding cakes designed to impress.
We've put together this practical guide to finding the perfect wedding cake — AND we've added a few expert wedding planning tips to make the process even easier.

Start with Flavour
It’s easy to get caught up in how a wedding cake looks, but the flavour is just as important. After all, you want your guests to remember how good it tasted, not just how pretty it looked.
Our signature wedding cake flavours are below - click each flavour to find out what makes it special.
-
Red Velvet – A rich cocoa sponge paired with silky cream cheese frosting.
-
Vanilla – Pillowy, fluffy, and made with Madagascan vanilla.
-
Chocolate – Deeply indulgent and dangerously good. Made with seriously luxurious Callebaut Belgian chocolate.
Top Tip:
Always taste before you commit. Our Wedding Cake Taster Box lets you sample all three flavours from the comfort of your home. We deliver across London and the M25.
Pick a Design That Works With Your Wedding Style
Your cake should complement your overall wedding style.
At Flavourtown, we offer a curated range of wedding cake designs that suit all kinds of celebrations — from minimalist modern weddings to colourful, creative parties.
The Flavourtown Wedding Cake Collection is ready-to-order - this means you just choose your design, flavour, size and date - then place your order on our website. We don't offer fully bespoke wedding cakes, BUT we can tailor our range to your colour scheme, just drop us an email to discuss
Top Tip:
When choosing a cake design, consider:
-
Your venue style (grand ballroom vs modern rooftop)
-
Your floral colours (match or contrast the cake)
-
The number of guests (larger guest lists may need a bigger cake!)
Plan Ahead
We can accommodate wedding cakes with 48 hours' notice! But we recommend booking your cake as early as possible, especially if you’re getting married during peak wedding season (May–September).
Top Tip:
Have your wedding venue confirmed before ordering your cake - we’ll need to know the location for smooth delivery and setup!
Size Matters: Don’t Over Or Under-Order
It's tempting to go huge with your cake, but it’s important to match the size to your guest list.
All of our wedding cakes have a rough portion guide on their individual product pages - we give you full-sized dessert portions and smaller party portions.
Top Tip:
Order Cupcakes or Mini Cupcakes to sit alongside your cake! After you get that perfect 'cutting shot', the top table can have a slice and the rest of your guests enjoy a cupcake.
Wedding Cake Delivery in London You Can Rely On
Getting your wedding cake safely to the venue is just as important as choosing the design. We hand-deliver our wedding cakes directly from our NW10 London bakery to venues across London and all postcodes inside the M25, with live tracking so you can follow your delivery on the day.
You choose your delivery date as you check out. After your order is placed, please make sure your venue knows who will be there to receive the cake. Our driver will need an easily contactable member of staff or wedding planner upon arrival to make sure delivery goes smoothly.
Ensure that anyone who might handle your cake on the day understands that it needs to be kept level and not tilted in any way.
If your wedding is in the height of summer, please ask your venue not to place the cake in direct sunlight as buttercream melts. If you are celebrating outside, we strongly advise your cake is only brought out when you are ready to cut it.
This leads us on to how your wedding cake will arrive at your venue.
Will my cake arrive assembled?
Our Tiered Cakes arrive fully assembled, complete with internal supports, and are thoroughly chilled before leaving our NW10 bakery. Carefully remove your wedding cake from its sturdy delivery box and place it centre stage. And get ready for the compliments to roll in.
Why Choose Flavourtown for Your Wedding Cake?
We started Flavourtown Bakery in 2013 to help you celebrate life's special moments, big and small - and they don't come any bigger than your wedding day. 13 years later, every Flavourtown wedding cake is still made from scratch right here in our Great Taste Gold Award-winning London bakery.
We use the finest ingredients we can get our hands on, including organic flour, free-range eggs, French butter, Madagascan vanilla and Callebaut Belgian chocolate. Every cake is then individually hand-decorated by our talented team before being carefully chilled and hand-delivered across London.
We’ve supplied Harrods and Selfridges, baked for some of the world’s biggest brands and made cakes for thousands of London celebrations along the way. To our team, the most important wedding cake is the one they are working on right now - every wedding cake gets the full VIP treatment.
Your Next Step: Taste the Magic
We don't offer wedding cake tastings - they can be tricky to arrange and feel a little old-fashioned. We'd rather our talented cake decorators put all of their effort into making you a stunning cake. Instead, we offer a Wedding Flavour Taster Box containing our best-selling flavours - the exact ones almost all of our wedding cakes are available in. Simply order a box for London delivery and have a tasting party on your sofa.
Once you’ve picked your favourite flavour, choose your perfect cake from the collection and order with just a few clicks.

Bonus Wedding Tips for Planning a Stress-Free Day
-
Confirm who at the venue is receiving the cake, brief them on handling your wedding cake and contact us with their mobile number for seamless delivery on the day.
-
Make sure your beautiful wedding cake isn't going to be set up near a radiator, that it isn't sat in direct sunlight or in a red-hot marquee. We're happy to go through all of the details with your wedding planner or venue manager.
-
If you're ordering a cake topper - make sure it's going to fit. Our team are happy to advise on cake sizes and dimensions.
-
Ask our venue to keep your cake in the fridge in very hot weather. Just remind them it will need to come back to room temperature before serving - this allows the sponge time to soften.
