"Oh, that's not bad… for a vegan cake’ This phrase kept coming up again and again as we talked to people following a vegan lifestyle, most told us they were resigned to the vegan option not being anywhere near as good as the regular cake! That phrase was always in our head as we set out to create vegan cakes and cupcakes so good that you couldn’t tell they were made without any animal products!
We felt that if a cake had the Flavourtown Bakery name on it then we wanted it to be every bit as indulgent and delicious as our regular cakes. Why should vegan mean dry, sour tasting or just downright weird in the cake world?
Over the past months, we’ve worked, reworked and tweaked our vegan recipes with a little more soya yoghurt here and a little more valrhona cocoa there to create a range of vegan cakes and cupcakes that will blow your socks off. It was important to us that we used the same world class premium ingredients in our vegan range that we use in our regular Flavourtown cakes so think Doves Farm organic flour, Tate and Lyle organic sugars and Valrhona cocoa powder. When we were happy with our vegan recipes we started selectively sending out samples to discerning vegans across London and when we started to get calls and emails from our taste testers saying “they’d never tasted vegan cakes like them” we knew we’d hit the spot.
