FAQs
ALL ABOUT FLAVOURTOWN
Tell me about the ingredients Flavourtown uses?
When we use words like 'worlds-best-ingredients' and 'the best ingredients money can buy', you probably yawn because you've seen it on a million other bakery websites. What some bakeries mean by this and what WE mean by this is wildly different.
Lescure AOP butter imported from France
Free Range Eggs
Organic flour from Shipton Mill and Doves Farm.
Organic caster, brown and icing sugar from Tate & Lyle.
Reno X chocolate from Italy. Callebaut chocolate and Belgian cocoa.
Madagascan vanilla extract - NEVER essence.
Provenance is important to Flavourtown; we're passionate about what goes into our food! The quality of what you put in TOTALLY dictates the finished product's taste. Where our competitors use cheaper, inferior ingredients, we prefer to go high and charge a fair price that reflects the artistry, small-batch baking and extremely high quality that goes into our products.
How high / tall are your cakes?
Our main range of layer cakes are four layers high unless otherwise stated. Rainbow cakes are 6 layers high, and our Simply Amazing - Amazingly Simple cakes are three layers.
Products on our site are handmade and hand-finished, and as such, these may vary from the images shown on our site; images of the products on our site are for illustrative purposes only.
Can I customise my cake?
We offer personalisation options to add your own message to our range of cakes or cupcakes as well as our edible image options. However, if you require anything more than this, your order will fall under our bespoke orders section.
Can I have bespoke cakes and cupcakes?
Our bespoke service is priced on an order-by-order basis and is subject to availability; please email info@flavourtownbakery.co.uk for help with your order.
DIETARY INFORMATION
Are your products suitable for vegetarians?
Almost all our products are suitable for vegetarians, apart from any that contain marshmallows.
Do you sell any vegan products?
We absolutely do! Check out our cupcakes page for which flavours are currently available.
Do you sell any gluten-free products?
Our Free From Gluten products are baked without gluten however, they are made in an environment that uses gluten-based products on a daily basis. We have robust cross-contamination prevention procedures in place, but all Flavourtown products may contain traces of gluten.
Are your products nut-safe?
We bake with all kinds of nuts, including peanuts and tree nuts, in our bakery and whilst we have robust cross-contamination prevention procedures in place, we cannot guarantee that our products don't contain traces of nuts. Although a product may not contain nuts, all products are made in a kitchen that handles nuts.
Are your products Halal?
While we are not a Halal Monitoring Committee-approved supplier we do adhere to their guidelines, and as such, all of the sweets we use are vegetarian. Some of the marshmallows we use are vegan, but some aren’t so please do check with us if you are not sure. We also use gold spray as part of the decorations on some of our products. This uses ethanol as a carrier for the gold lustre dust however it evaporates, and the HMC have advised that it is safe for those who follow a Halal diet.
We bake with care and attention to detail but sometimes a piece of eggshell, fruit seeds or stones can make its way into our cakes.

SIZE OF PRODUCT
How big are your cupcakes?
Our cupcakes are full standard size and are very generous.
How many portions do your layer cakes serve?
We recommend giving your guests generous slices (as we do in our stores – American-sized potions if you will), so we approximate that you will get the following portions for our cakes: 6" = six – ten portions / 8" = twelve – eighteen portions / 10" = twenty-eight – thirty-four portions / 12" = forty - four portions.
Please refer to the cakes page for our downloadable PDF portion guide.
How much do your cakes weigh?
Please be aware when collecting large cakes, these can be extremely heavy and the boxes they come in can be very large. We strongly recommend arranging suitable transport to collect large cakes or cupcakes. WE DO NOT PROVIDE BAGS AS OUR CAKES NEED TO BE CARRIED BY HAND
