Vanilla. It’s become a dirty word and a tragic insult (‘Oh Becky, she’s just SO vanilla,’ snigger snigger). But to Team Flavourtown, the cake obsessives, vanilla is anything but basic, boring or bland – it’s the Queen 💅🏻 of sponges and a totally unforgiving flavour. You can’t hide a mediocre vanilla sponge behind any amount of frosting or sprinkles. A fact about your friendly Flavourtown cake weirdos😂 - We test our sponges totally naked, if they aren’t fluffy, packed with flavour and super-moist (sorry😂) we don’t release them into the wild.
